| Fifth
grade math centers around the Investigation process. In addition,
Problems of the Day and Mountain Math are used daily to practice, perfect, and maintain skills
necessary for mathematic computations. Please help your child
practice math facts daily. This is one skill that if it is not
practiced, it is lost. Please encourage at least 5 minutes of
practice at home each day on multiplication and/or subtraction facts.
Upcoming units for fifth grade include using numbers that are already
familiar to help solve unfamiliar problems; discovering and building
on the relationship between fractions, percentages, and decimals;
and exploring 2-dimensional geometry to discover properties of angles,
polygons, and the coordinate plane. |
