This
year we will be studying American History in social studies. Our
units start with the crossing of the land bridge and continue with the
exploration of the New World by Europe. We will explore
colonization, revolution, and the building of our nation. In
addition, we will study the effects of a nation divided during the
events preceding, during, and after the Civil War. We will briefly
discuss westward movement and both World War I and World War II.

Early Americans and North American Geography
Early Americans and North American Geography:
Classes are researching regions in groups. Groups will be
presenting to the class. In addition, students will be researching
on our web site Native American groups in North American and then creating
a presentation for the class. Students will be responsible for their
own information as well as information from other groups.
Exploration:
The students will study various explorers around the world and create a
large map with trade routes. American Revolution: We will
be studying the events leading to the Revolution; George III of England,
his ancestry, and how it affected his response to the colonists; important
battles and their significance; and finally the results of the colonies
winning the war. The chapters covered will be numbers 9, 10, and 11.
In addition to tests on the chapter, each student will be constructing a
timeline. |
